Forever in my Heart

Forever in my Heart

Today at midnight, only about a week after I wrote my last post about our doggies, Jake took his last breath and passed away. He went in our arms at home.

I thought I was prepared ya know? We had a few scares with him before but every time he would pull out of it. We knew this time was different.

We made sure he was comfortable on his bed, we propped his head up and covered him with warm blankets. Gave lots of hugs and kisses and comforting words to help him pass on.

Saying goodbye to a beloved pet never gets easier no matter how prepared you are.

The house is quiet. To quiet. He had such a presence about him, every which way I turn there is a reminder of him; his bed, blanket, food bowl, kennel, collar, leash…. the tears come and then they settle, and then they come again.

Jake has been with us for so long, the majority of our marriage in fact that it just doesn’t feel real. 14 1/2 years is a good long while.

I do however have a peace in my spirit. I am settled, it’s just going to take some getting used to. There is change in the air and it just feels different.

Change is never easy. In fact change is usually always hard but change brings in the new beautiful experiences we didn’t have before. We just have to push through the pain, the struggle, the self doubt, the comfortable… and break through to the other side.

If you are facing change can I encourage you to press through? Trust the process and let Christ settle your heart. He will see you through to beautiful days.

It might look dark now, but purpose to see the beauty in your everyday. Maybe I sound like a broken record but everyday holds a special beauty of its own, we simply must choose to see it.

I have been through many changing times and circumstances and while each one held a challenge of its own I can honestly say the other side of it is worth the fight.

It’s short and sweet today but that’s all I got.

Here’s to life, love and happiness in the midst of our struggles. 🥂

See you again on the other side Jake bug. 💞

Much love,

Jess
